A Ride, A Pause, A Thought
It was my first motorcycle ride of the season, the kind where everything still feels a little new again, the sound of the engine, the air against your jacket, the quiet excitement of being back on the road. I wasn’t heading anywhere special, just letting the ride take me where it wanted.
That’s when I saw it.
A small, lonely shed tucked away at the edge of a dark forest, right by the water. It almost blended into the landscape, like it had always been there, quietly existing without needing to be noticed. The day itself had been dull, gray skies, heavy air, the kind of weather that doesn’t really invite inspiration. But then, almost out of nowhere, the sun broke through the clouds. Just for a moment.
And in that moment, something shifted.
The light hit the trees and the little red shed, bringing warmth to an otherwise muted scene. I felt it instantly, a calm, almost grounding sensation spreading through me. Standing there, looking across the water, I couldn’t help but drift into thought.
There was something about that place that made me wonder what it would be like to disconnect. To step away from the constant noise of the world, the endless cycle of bad news, the pressure, the rush and just to focus on the simple things. On yourself. On the people closest to you. To let life slow down enough that you can actually feel it as it passes.
Of course, I know it’s not that simple. And truthfully, I love my life as it is. Maybe it’s just that familiar feeling, that the grass might be greener somewhere else, somewhere quieter, somewhere simpler.
But maybe it’s not about leaving everything behind.
Maybe it’s just about moments like this.
I got back on the bike and headed home, carrying that feeling with me. A little more grounded. A little more energized. Ready to face whatever comes next, with a clearer mind and a steadier pace.
